Liam one or our Playing games Still Playing games
young leaders
Aloha all
Friday night was a quiet pack night and so we settled down to a fun night. First of all we asked the cubs present the sort of activities they would like to do. Several suggestions cropped up alongside the usual 'more games'. The cubs asked to do the 'First Aid' badge so we do stage one by Christmas and follow on with stage 2. We will work on other badges to and I will post plans shortly on the site.
Other requests were for more camps and to go on hikes. I will look into this for those that want to go on this type of activity. I am keen to do these for the cubs but I do need help from adults who have to have Scout child protection screening (paid by the scout group) done. Would you like to help? Contact me please. Thanks.
We then played 'Colditz' and 'Doctor Doctor' I think it was. Behaviour was good and the cubs looked very smart.
Next Pack Meeting will be 30th October.

Aloha all.
LOOK! - Link to Barries youtube of St. Georges Camp. Featuring YOUR SONS & DAUGHTERS as well as others.
I hope all are recovered from the weekend. It started well with parents helping to set up camp and many thanks to those parents who were able to help. It makes a real difference.
Friday night was taken up with getting settled in and doing some wide games, some work towards the Communication Badge and camp skills. Later our now famous 'midnight walk' was undertaken by all and after a quick super all were of to bed by midnight - ish!
Sat saw us splitting into two groups and doing backwoods cooking run by the Explorer section and more communication work with help from the local Fife amateur Radio Group. After a stovie lunch all sections came together for joint activities for the afternoon. When all had gathered we got in two mixed groups of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers and an adult. We worked through 10 adventurous stations such as making paper towers and making safe a radio active waste flask. After a delayed barbeque dinner supplied and cooked by the Group Exec Committee we got ready for a Camp Fire sing along for the Beavers and then off to the main Camp fire with all the sections and groups on site. Phew.. then gladley off to bed.
Sunday saw us rising early and finishing off the communications badge work with the Inverkeithing Cubs and their leaders Darian and Helen. Whilst all was going on the camp was being packed up by the two adult helpers we had on camp and without whom we would have struggled to get everything done.
Finaly a quick lunch and ended with our St Geoge's Day Service. (St. George is the patron saint of Scouting).
I would like to thank many but we limit it for now to the two adult helpers, Wendy (Hathie), The Explorers Section, the local Radio Club, parents who helped seting up camp, the cubs and of course Akela and Chil from Moday night Cubs.
Badges and certificates will be given out at Friday Pack meeting.

Aloha all
hope the Easter hols were fun! Well I'm back and looking forward to District camp next weekend. I will contact all those going on camp with final notes in the next day or so when I have talked to Wendy (Hathie).
But I wanted to let you all know about the up and coming Woodland Explorers meetings. For those that don't know them, here is the web address - http://www.btinternet.com/~ja.blasco/dalgetybaywoodland/
I will put a link to it in the links page soon when I get permission from them to do so. Although not a scouting event we get a few cubs going and I usually go when I can. So here are the details for those who are interested.
"April 25th: bug hunt in Crowhill Wood, and weather permitting we'll then walk to Braefoot Point and have a picnic there. Meet at the bottom of the steps at the end of Sealstrand at 10.30 a.m. If the weather's good, bring a picnic if you fancy the walk to Braefoot, if it's poor weather we'll just do a bughunt in Crowhill Wood. Details of this meeting WON'T be in the Diary, I'm afraid.
Mays meeting will be the ever popular pond dipping at Jamestown Pond. We have always found newts at this site in the past, as well as plenty of other (mostly muddy) stuff. Well meet at the adjacent car park at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday 2nd May. Please make sure everyone is wearing wellies and preferably clothing that doesnt mind getting muddy. If you have your own pond dipping equipment, do bring it along. For those of you who havent been before, the pond is along Cruickness Road, Inverkeithing, the road that leads to the quarry, where the breakers yard is. The car park is on the right side of this road. Coming from Dalgety Bay, go through Inverkeithing, heading for Ferrytoll. Before you get to Ferrytoll, take the turning on the left under the railway bridge, and then the first left, which is Cruickness Rd."
I'll update again soon.
Paul.

Couple of notes:
We had another successful evening. We started with a game and then moved on to the work for the Hobbies badge I had promised we would do. Aaron and Harrison made a short presentation to the boys. Aaron on his guitar playing and Harrison on his Warhammer Figures and battle game. Both boys were awarded their badges on the night.
Unfortunately I couldn't get access to the tents to have a tent errecting race but the boys doing their hobbies presentations were so pationate about their hobbies it carried us through to the closing ceromonies.
We had four boys going up to Scouts and leaving us. After a short ceromny we wished the boys well and we are sure that Grieg, Ethan, Jack and Daniel will do well in the Scouts and we wish them well for future. I am sure we will see them often.
We closed by giving out a refund of camp fees, camp certificates to those attending the overnight camp and nights away badges to those boys who didn't have them.

Aloha all,
We had an exciting nights activities on Friday 27th. Started of with a couple of sessions on putting up tents and packing kit for camp. After that a drink, a biscuit and a mass rush to get on coats hats and gloves and find those torches that 'mum' hid in our bags.
We got on our way and 'Akala' informed us we had survived a plane crash and we had to walk to safety and find food and shelter. So out on the road we went to march through the mountains to safety. We went past St. Bridgets Kirk and in to the plantation by Braefoot Gas Terminal. We explored the old military buildings in the dark, watched the tanker loading and listenend to 'Chil' try to frighten us..AGAIN!
Then on we marched to safety and into the woods by the Scout Hall. There we found food, drink and fire lighting material that had been parachuted in! Unfortunately the damp kindling proved too much for Chris (an Explorer Scout helping Monday night cubs) and amidst much good natured teasing he led us to the safety of the Scout hall.
By now it was nearing 20:00 hrs and we got hot dogs for supper and got in to our bags for the night. Watching a film on the TV (How come we don't get that at out door camps?) some settled down to sleep and the last getting to sleep arounf Midnight or just past it.
In the morning a mad scramble to clear away kit get washed and ready for being picked up at 09:00. Oh! We did get brakefast to!
Many thanks to Wendy, Peter, Stuart and Chris, without whom it would not be possible.
Hope all enjoyed it and always happy to get feed back about camp folks.
Yours in Scouting 'KAA'

We had a busy night making truffles and boxes to put them in for Mothering Sunday. On the whole behaviour was excellent though a little manic at times and restless by the end. We all seemed to have a good time making the delights and many thanks to Hathie (Wendy) for doing all the preperation work and most of the cleaing up.
At the very last minute we managed to pack away for the investiture of Aiden and presenting him to the pack as a fully fledges Cub. We will try to take pics in the future. (This is hard work to remember we have a web site you know.)
Next week is a camp for those who are new to camping. So for the rest it is a night off. The week after we will carry on working towards the athletes badge with young leaders Liam and Jordan.

Inspite of the help from our Explorers we are still looking for help towards running the Pack. We are not alone in this as most sections and the committee are always looking for help. So in the next few weeks we will be raising awareness with parents and families of cubs. If you are interested in helping as an occational helper or more regularly or at camps or even as a leader yourself please let us know. Feel free to volunteer family and friends! All help is gratefully received and it is a very rewarding to do something for the comunity and for young folk. They are our future after all!

12/03/09 - I have at last managed to have a Thursday with both my boys healthy. This means I have at last got the rest of the badges we have been waiting on. A relief to those youngsters who ask me every week if I have them yet. Parents, expect some sewing over the weekend!
10/03/09 - In the next few weeks Liam & Jordan will be concentrating on working the cubs towards the Athlete badge (with one eye on the District Sports on May 9th 2009. - Put the champagne on ice folks!) We will do some preparation work for the over night camp on March 28th 2009, do some craft work and of course many games and lots of NOISE!
